We had an assembly today at school. The assembly was of a choir from Uganda, Africa. I got to have lunch with two of the kids from the choir. Their names are Tony (9 years old) and Josiah (11 years old). They were awesome. We got to ask them questions about themselves and Africa. And only a couple of the kids in the 29 person choir had one parent. The rest were orphans. That got me thinking… Even though they’ve been through much more worse things than anyone in Southern Oregon combined, they were having more fun than I have ever had. We also got to play with them at lunch recess. One of the older African boys raced me and a couple of my friends. He gave us a 25 yard head start. He beat us.
GREAT ASSEMBLY

We just had an international choir of children from mostly Africa at our church – a small girl named Rosie stole the show – what enthusiasm. They were so full of life – and seem to have so little! I think the word we are looking for Kota is “grateful”.
Kota,
I found this clip on You Tube that you might enjoy.
I know it’s not the same group you saw, but might remind you of them.
It sure reminds me of the music we experienced when we were in Africa.
(I thought you’d like the drums too = ) !

Yay Kota. I am proud of you for making friends with new people. Many Americans don’t have a clue what African life is all about…and now you do and have friends across the world. That is rad. So if and your fabulous sister ever want a pen pal from here…I can hook you up. The kids we are friends with love to write letters and they are always interested in making new friends. You are way cool and it is awesome to read your blog. I am glad I now know about it.
I think the African Kids may have much to learn from you and America Kota – but they can certainly teach us all a thing ot two about life, love and Forgiveness
Good of you to spot that from your time with them.
Do you think they have God in their Life? Had they all heard of Christ? Do you think God’s Love might be shining out of each and every smile in their hearts?
Their lives are no doubt MUCH simpler – more ‘basic’ than ours are – I think that gives them a ‘head start’ in meeting, living and being closer to, God.
Except ye become as a little Child ye shall in no wise enter The Kingdom.
Don’t be in too much of a hurry to ‘Grow up’, Kota – you too Kass! Just BE who you are now – don’t wish to be somewhere ‘else’ or older or richer or wiser etc.

WHA?! No mothers day post?
Awesome stuff! My wife and I live in Uganda helping orphans. We work for a Christian Orphan Program called Feed His Lambs here in Uganda. I’m happy to see what your doing! Keep up the good work! You can check out our blog at:
